NASHVILLE: The U.S. TV premiere of Kurt Cobain: About a Son is slated for February 20, what would have been the musician’s 44th birthday, on the Documentary Channel.

The film is based on more than 25 hours of never-before-seen interviews, conducted by Rolling Stone’s music journalist Michael Azerrad for his book Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana. The film recounts the singer’s life, from childhood to adolescence to his days of musical discovery and later dealing with fame. The conversations heard in the film have never before been made public.

The doc will also be made available in its entirety online at documentarychannel.com. It will be available on DISH Network and DIRECTV VOD simultaneously with the network’s evening premiere.
