LOS ANGELES: The new documentary Silencing the Song: An Afghan Fallen Star, slated for a January 26 debut on HBO2, catches up with the young singer Setara, who was featured in the 2010 HBO doc Afghan Star.

In Afghan Star, Setara was voted off the talent competition series of the same name. During the taping, her head scarf slipped, revealing her hair, which caused an uproar in post-Taliban Afghanistan. In the new documentary, Afghan Star director Havana Marking revisits Setara, who deals with threats to her safety and started a new life as a wife and mother-to-be. She is also still continuing her dreams of becoming a pop-music idol.

Silencing the Song: An Afghan Fallen Star will debut exclusively on HBO2 on January 26 at 8 p.m., preceded by an encore presentation of Afghan Star at 6:30 p.m. The new doc will re-air on January 28 and February 5 and 22.
