PASADENA: The hit AMC original Breaking Bad is headed back into production for a fourth season of 13 one-hour episodes slated for summer 2011.

Production on the new episodes gets under way on January 13 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The series, from writer/producer/director Vince Gilligan, follows the story of a desperate man who turns to a life of crime to secure his family’s financial security.

"As we ramp up production for the next season of Breaking Bad, we look forward to returning to Albuquerque, which serves as a perfect backdrop for the evolution of Walt White’s character," said Susie Fitzgerald, AMC’s senior VP of scripted development and current programming. "Vince Gilligan and his team deliver bold story lines that truly deliver a mesmerizing, exhilarating television experience. We look forward to an incredible fourth season."
