TORONTO: The Banff World Television Festival has been renamed as the Banff World Media Festival, dropping TV from its title to reflect the evolution of the content market.

"This is an important step for the Festival, reflecting both the changing landscape of the media content industry, as well as the expanding breadth of delegates we welcome to the Rockies each year,” said Michael Hennessy, the chairman of the Banff World Media Festival Foundation Board of Directors. “As we move forward, the Festival will continue to offer what has made this an indispensible event for over three decades: cutting-edge content, leading industry figures and a spectacular location."

“Nowhere else in the world will media professionals get this kind of experience,” added Ferne Cohen, the executive director of the festival. “Along with forward-looking sessions and groundbreaking keynotes, BANFF offers a totally unique atmosphere in which the biggest industry players become remarkably accessible.”
