LONDON: CAKE has sold Fresh TV’s animated surf comedy Stoked to Germany’s KI.KA, which will launch the tween series in early 2011.

Stoked centers on six teenagers who come together one summer to work, and surf, at the Surfer’s Paradise Resort. The series is aimed at 8- to 12-year-olds.

Ed Galton, the managing director and CCO at CAKE, said: “This is our first sale to KI.KA, brokered by Leila Ouledcheikh, senior sales manager at CAKE, and we look forward to maintaining a strong working relationship with them in the future. Stoked is a great property to have in our portfolio and we anticipate strong sales in international territories.”

Sebastian Debertin, KI.KA’s head of fiction, acquisition and co-production, added: “Following our strategy to provide older children with high-quality animation in terms of a fresh approach in storytelling and design, we are very happy to add Stoked to our portfolio. The series deals with social values e.g. how to become grown-up and stay integer and combines this approach with an extremely entertaining and funny storytelling.”
