CANNES/SYDNEY: BBC’s Natural History Unit has a number of titles that have sold to Nine Network in Australia, including Frozen Planet, narrated by David Attenborough.

Frozen Planet is the latest offering from the BBC’s new natural history portfolio BBC Earth. The six-part series is due to launch in 2011. Also headed to Nine Network are Wild South America: Andes to Amazon, Wild Caribbean and Life of Mammals, also from David Attenborough. All of which will premiere later this year.

“The BBC’s natural history content performs strongly across a variety of Australian platforms including television, DVD and on digital platforms, where it’s a top seller,” said Julie Dowding, BBC Worldwide’s sales director for Australasia. “We’re very pleased to be able to bring it to audiences on GEM."

Frozen Planet offers a breath-taking perspective on the visual beauty of our planet,” added Michael Healy, Nine’s director of programming. “Quality content from celebrated program makers such as David Attenborough continues to resonate powerfully with our audiences.”
