CITV Commissions New Series

LONDON: CITV in the U.K. has announced its first commission in five years: the book-based Fleabag Monkeyface, for a September 2011 debut.

Developed and produced for TV through a partnership between Sparky Animation, Impossible Kids and Walker Productions—the production arm of children’s book publisher Walker Books—the 52×11-minute show is aimed at the 6-to-10 set. It will launch on CITV, ITV1 and GMTV1 next year.

"The characters of Fleabag and his friends Gene and Gerald are a perfect fit for the CITV channel," said Emma Tennant, controller of ITV Digital Channels. "They’re bright, imaginative, funny and, at times, just a little bit gross; a perfect complement to our other shows.  We’re sure that they will be a great hit with our viewers."
