KNOXVILLE: The newly created post of senior VP and general manager of HGTV is to be filled by Kathleen Finch.

At HGTV, Finch is charged with leading all aspects of program development and production. She will work closely with HGTV president Jim Samples of the network’s strategic direction.

“Kathleen has led DIY Network to spectacular success in ratings, revenue and recognition,” said Samples. “Her track record for developing compelling and entertaining programming is strong, and her addition will solidify HGTV’s position as America’s leader in home and lifestyle programming.”

Finch has been with Scripps Networks since 1999, previously serving as senior VP and general manager of DIY Network. Andy Singer takes over as GM for DIY. Singer served as senior VP of programming at DIY Network for the last two years.

“Beyond his expertise in programming, Andy has proven to be an exceptional leader,” commented Burton Jablin, the executive VP of Scripps Networks and president of the company’s home category. “His level-headed approach to management and his objective understanding of our category approach to business will serve DIY Network well.”

“Home remains a vital and viable category, at the center of people’s lifestyles,” added Jablin. “The success that both HGTV and DIY Network have enjoyed results directly from conscious efforts to reflect market realities, ensuring that the programming remains relevant to how consumers are thinking about ‘home’ in today.”
