TORONTO: The CGI-animated series Babar and the Adventures of Badou is to make its U.S. debut on Disney Channel’s Playhouse Disney preschool programming block.

The new series is an updated version of the classic Babar, introducing the iconic elephant’s 8-year-old grandson, Badou. Targeted at kids 4 to 7, the show is a co-production from Nelvana Studio and TeamTO in association with The Clifford Ross Company.

“Babar has been revamped for the 21st century and the marvelous new look of the show and engaging story lines will make it a favorite with kids, parents and grandparents everywhere,” said Lynn Chadwick, the VP of worldwide sales and distribution at Nelvana Enterprises. “We are delighted to be able to introduce it to viewers in the U.S. first on Playhouse Disney.”
