Virgin1 to Rebrand as Channel One

LONDON: This September, Virgin1 will be renamed Channel One, continuing to broadcast in the same slots on all platforms.

The rebrand will officially take effect on September 3, with a new logo and overhaul of all on- and off-air branding. The channel’s website changes to mychannelone.co.uk. The change comes about due to the sale of The LIVING TV Group by Virgin Media to BSkyB, which doesn’t allow The LIVING TV Group to continue using the Virgin brand name.

Helping to kick off the fall/winter schedule, Channel One has picked up the digital terrestrial rights to the U.S. drama series V in a deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. V previously aired on the pay-TV channel Syfy earlier this year.

Jonathan Webb, the managing director of The LIVING TV Group, commented, “Channel One continues the journey we began with Virgin1 in 2007. Channel One will continue to embody the wit and warmth of Virgin1, and inherits the jam-packed schedule that has propelled the channel to market-beating growth over the last few years."
