Europe’s First 3D Channel to Launch in October

LONDON: Sky 3D is set to launch in millions of homes across the U.K. on October 1.

The service will feature a launch lineup of movies and live sports. Highlights include this year’s Ryder Cup, with three days of live coverage of the golf event, as well as the 3D hits Bolt and Monsters vs. Aliens. The channel’s schedule will continue to expand in the lead up to the Christmas holiday, with movies such as Alice in Wonderland, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Coraline, Fly Me to the Moon, Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince and My Bloody Valentine. Sky has agreements with Disney, Fox, Universal, Warner Bros., Paramount and DreamWorks. In the sports arena, Sky 3D will air Premier League coverage. Further shows in the entertainment and arts genres will be announced closer to the launch.

Sky 3D is currently available in more than 1,500 pubs and clubs across the U.K. and Ireland.
