SpongeBob Available on CCTV Mobile Phones in China

BEIJING: MTV Networks China has launched SpongeBob SquarePants to mobile users in China through the CCTV Mobile Phone Channel, as part of an expanded multiplatform content agreement.

The deal makes MTV Networks China the first international media company to provide access to content via the Chinese government-owned CCTV’s TV, online and mobile portals. The CCTV Mobile Phone Channel is available to 3G mobile users. Episodes of the Nickelodeon hit series can be accessed by clicking "Monternet" from the main menu of capable 3G mobile devices.

“Bringing SpongeBob SquarePants to mobile with CCTV Mobile Phone Channel marks a multiplatform trifecta for MTV Networks China,” said Mei Yan, the managing director for MTV Networks China. “Providing viewers the three-screen option to view Nickelodeon’s best-known property not only allows us to deliver the world of Bikini Bottom to more Chinese fans, but also marks a significant development in our long-term relationship with CCTV.”
