MTVNI Sells Movie, Music Awards Shows

LONDON: A number of new global broadcast agreements have been confirmed by MTV Networks International (MTVNI) for its music and movie awards programming.

Malaysia’s 8TV and Singapore’s MediaCorp have both signed up for the MTV Movie Awards 2010, hosted by Aziz Ansari. The Chinese pubcaster CCTV went for VH1 Divas 2009, which celebrates women in music.

In Central and Eastern Europe, Albania’s Top Channel is to broadcast the MTV Movie Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards and Video Music Awards. TV Seven of Bulgaria picked up the rights for MTV Europe Music Awards ’09 and 2010, as well as the MTV Movie Awards 2010 and VH1 Divas. Meanwhile, Viasat in Ghana signed up for a range of awards and music programming. The deal included 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs, BET Awards 2009, MTV Europe Music Awards 2009, Hip Hop Awards 2009, 2010 Celebration of Gospel, MTV Movie Awards 2010, Video Music Awards 2010 and VH1 Hip Hop Honors 2009.

In Latin America, Bolivia’s ATB and Panama’s TVN both picked up Los Premios MTV 2009, honoring the top music videos of the year from Latin America and the world. Globosat in Brazil went for the BET Awards 2009, this time for an HD broadcast.
