Syfy Names New VP of Original Movies

NEW YORK: Karen O’Hara has been promoted to VP of original movies at Syfy, with oversight for the development and production of more than 20 films for the channel’s Saturday night original movie strand per year. 

In her previous role as director of original movies, O’Hara was behind numerous Syfy Saturday Original Movies, including Dinoshark, Lake Placid 3, Carny and Meteor Storm. The upcoming roster includes films such as Red, Mega Python vs Gatoroid and Sharktopus. She will report to Thomas Vitale, the executive VP of programming and original movies at Syfy. 

Vitale commented: "As an invaluable member of our film team, Karen’s creative insights and acumen have helped propel our Saturday Original Movies into the mainstream of American pop culture."
