Electric Sky Notches Up Global Sales

LONDON: SBS Australia, Living in New Zealand and BBC Worldwide Channels are among the companies to have signed up for programming from Electric Sky.

Living has picked up the new HD series A Place in the Sun: Home or Away 5 by Freedom Productions for Channel 4 and The Blue Bike by Markland Communications. The Blue Bike is a documentary about a man who takes a pilgrimage on a vintage bicycle to salute his lifelong friend.

SBS Australia went for Bodysnatchers of New York by Bearkatt Productions for More4 and MSNBC. The true crime story talks about the illegal trade in body parts. BBC Worldwide Channels has taken on the HD series Glamour Puds, season two, to air on BBC Lifestyle in Africa, Poland, Scandinavia and the Middle East. The series, produced by The Last Word for Channel 4, tells the story of the celebrity chef Antonin Careme.

In Latin America, Pramer Film & Arts channel took a package of HD performance titles. The deal includes Hansel and Gretel, produced by Glyndebourne; Don Carlo, co-produced by Opus Arte and the Royal Opera House; the ballets The Nutcracker and Swan Lake by the Royal Opera House; Sleeping Beauty and Giselle, a BBC/Royal Opera House co-production in association with Opus Arte; and Blank Canvas, from Vast Productions for Foxtel.

Trishna & Krishna: Separate Lives by WTFN for Seven Network Australia scored a further three territories, with pickups from Radio Television Suisse, SBS Netherlands and NHK Japan. Radio Television Suisse also went for the HD wildlife special Lizard Kings.

VTM in Belgium acquired the HD special The Second Coming by Wild Dream Films for National Geographic USA.
