MUNICH: ProSiebenSat.1 Group has firmed up a transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) deal with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment that sees movies such as the box-office hit Avatar heading to maxdome.

The long-term license agreement grants ProSiebenSat.1 Group the non-exclusive VOD rights to Fox’s new releases and catalogue portfolio. Avatar, the highest grossing movie of all time, kicks off the deal, heading to maxdome in June. The VOD service has a number of long-term contracts in place, including with Hollywood Studios such as CBS, Paramount, Disney, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures Television International and NBC Universal.

Dr. Christoph Schneider, the managing director of maxdome, said, "I am very proud to be able to call Twentieth Century Fox our new partner. The agreement secures long-term access to some of Hollywoods most attractive content—allowing us to offer high-quality entertainment, such as Avatar to our maxdome customers. Adding Fox to our portfolio allows us to maintain maxdome s market leadership in Germany."

Jamie McCabe, the executive VP of worldwide PPV/VOD and EST at Twentieth Century Fox, added, "We are committed to responding to consumer needs by finding innovative distribution outlets for them to experience celebrated Fox content. Were therefore delighted to be working with ProSiebenSat.1 Group to provide its maxdome customers access to a comprehensive selection of Fox movies."
