Sony Pictures, SF in Nordic DVD Deal

SWEDEN: Svensk Filmindustri has clinched a deal to distribute DVD and Blu-ray titles from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) in the Nordic territories, beginning October 1.

Rasmus Ramstad, CEO of Svensk Filmindustri, said of the agreement: “The rental business is still a vigorous and important part of the home-entertainment market in the Nordic region and we are proud to be SPHE’s appointed partner in this area. SPHE has shown impressive stability in their DVD & Blu-ray business and we are certain that our joint efforts will further strengthen their position in the Nordic region.

Jonas Wåhlander, country manager for the Nordic region at SPHE, added: “We are delighted to enter this rental distribution agreement with SF and look forward to a successful partnership to support the rental business in the Nordic region. This agreement with SF complements the recent transition of SPHE’s retail sales operations for DVD and Blu-ray product to Sony Music Entertainment."
