Banff Award to Honor Eric McCormack

BANFF: Eric McCormack is set to receive the NBC Universal Canada Award of Distinction at the Banff World Television Awards next month.

"Eric is an amazing, talented actor whose hard work and acting skills know no bounds," said Peter Vamos, executive director of the Banff World Television Festival. "His career success is something everyone in the industry greatly respects and he epitomizes everything this award represents."

Since the end of Will & Grace, McCormack has appeared in TNT’s Trust Me, the mini-series The Andromeda Strain, and has had guest turns on Law & Order: SVU and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Past winners of the NBC Universal Canada Award of Distinction have included Paul Haggis, Colm Feore and Kim Cattrall. The honor will be presented June 15 during a Gala Awards ceremony, where Ricky Gervais will receive the Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award and William Shatner the Lifetime Achievement Award. Throughout the week, awards will also be presented in entertainment and drama (June 13) and non-fiction and youth (June 14). In addition, a Pilots Competition and the nextMEDIA Banff Interactive Awards take place June 16.
