BURBANK: Warner Bros. International Television Distribution has upped Ted Lai to the newly created role of senior VP of TV distribution for China and Korea and business development for Asia.

Lai’s expanded remit includes day-to-day supervision of Warner-branded VOD services in selected countries across Asia Pacific, excluding India, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. He will also coordinate with HBO Asia on the distribution of WarnerTV Asia, the new pan-Asian linear channel launching throughout the region in 2010. In this capacity, he reports to Malcolm Dudley-Smith, executive VP of business management at Warner Bros. International Branded Services.

In his role of supervising the distribution of the studio’s feature film, TV series and animated slate to free- and pay-TV platforms across China and Korea, Lai reports to Jim Brehm, WBITD’s senior VP of sales for Canada, Latin America and Asia.

Lai, based in Shanghai, was most recently VP of international television.
