LONDON: A number of new broadcasters have signed on for Parthenon Entertainment’s preschool series City of Friends, which is in production for a second season and a Christmas special.

The 26×10-minute CGI animated series, produced be CreaCon Entertainment, has been sold to more than 100 countries. Recent broadcasters include France 5 and Canada’s Yoopa. In its home territory of Norway, City of Friends has spawned a roadshow and plans for a feature film and children’s theme park are in the works.

Marie Chappelow, the commercial director for children’s brands at Parthenon, commented: “I’m so pleased with the success of this program, which has created a real buzz wherever it has been shown. I think the real secret behind its success is that it brings the emergency services together to show all aspects of the community in a fun and easily accessible way.”

Carl Christian Hamre, the CEO of CreaCon Entertainment, added: “This is the start of something really big and I’m excited about our second series, which is due to go into production and should be ready by next September. I’m also amazed that a simple ‘good night’ story I created for my children has turned into a success amongst children across the world.”
