ZDF Notches Up MIPTV Deals

CANNES: ZDF Enterprises has clinched deals with Finland’s YLE and France’s TF1, among others, for its new slate of programming, which includes crime dramas, historical docs and romance TV movies.

YLE acquired 47 hours of cop shows, while Italy’s RTI took Hamburg Dockland and The Fifth Commandment.  TF1 picked up the rights to a second season of Verdict Revised. In Switzerland, SF took a package of crime and romance programming, and another deal takes a dozen love stories by Inga Lindström and Barbara Wood to the Czech Republic.

The History to Go package of historical docs was received well by buyers. Smithsonian Network in the U.S. took five titles and Spain’s TVE acquired six. History U.K. acquired The Battle Against Rome and The Lisbon Earthquake and an eight-program deal was inked with the History channels in Spain and Germany. Russia’s TV Kultura also acquired a number of documentaries.

On the kids’ end, H2O, Just Add Water is going to Spain’s Antena 3, Portugal’s Prisvideo, Finland’s YLE (third season), Holland’s Zapp (third season) and Russia’s TNT; The Elephant Princess sold to Russia’s TV Kultura and Finland’s YLE; and The Jungle Book is headed to Norway’s NRK, Sweden’s SVT, Holland’s Zapp and Belgium’s Ketnet.
