MAINZ: ZDF Enterprises has slated new entries in the genres of crime thrillers, history documentaries and romantic TV movies to present to buyers at MIPTV.

As part of its "Prime Crime" lineup of police thrillers and cop series is the Danish title The Killing. There’s also Criminalist, Flemming and new seasons of Hamburg Dockland and The Fifth Commandment. A new addition to the city-based whodunits is Stuttgart Homicide. Among the suspense offerings is Whiteout, based on a novel by Ken Follett.

Documentaries on historical topics are also a focus for ZDF, which highlights its "History to Go" lineup. These titles include South Africa: The Land of Hope, co-produced with SABC. Great India and America Before Columbus are also part of the pack. Secrets in the Dust and The Biblical Plagues round out the factual offerings, along with Islam and the West.

In ZDF’s "Spring Feelings" slate are new seasons from Rosamunde Pilcher, Inga Lindstroem, Dream Voyage and Cruise into Cloud Nine. Two new TV-movie cycles are being launched at MIPTV, the Joanna Trollope collection and Summer In.

For the younger set comes Dance Academy, aimed at teens and tweens. Buyers can also get a first look at upcoming projects from ZDF such as a new season of The Elephant Princess and the children’s series Sherlock Yack, along with documentaries on John Demjanjuk, the Japanese Yakuza, the "real" Shakespeare, Robinson Crusoe’s treasure and Hitler’s colonies. Upcoming dramas include the story of the first internationally known female underwater photographer, and a new season of the Danish crime series The Protectors.
