Sky1 Snaps Up Tornante Stop-Motion Comedy

LONDON: Sky1 HD has taken on the exclusive U.K. rights to the stop-motion animated series Glenn Martin, DDS, a prime-time comedy from Michael Eisner’s Tornante Animation.

The series—developed for Nick at Nite in the U.S. by Michael Eisner, who co-created the show along with Alex Berger and Eric Fogel—follows a well-meaning but clueless dentist dad and his supportive and cynical wife, hormonal teenage son and business-savvy daughter, as well as their quirky family dog. The family decides to pack up and leave suburbia to travel America in a mobile home. Glenn Martin, DDS will launch on Sky1 and Sky1 HD on March 11 at 9:30 p.m.

Louisa Forsyth, the senior acquisitions executive at Sky1 HD, Sky1, 2 and 3, commented: “Glenn Martin, DDS is a quirky, offbeat comedy series, with a completely different look.  We never like to go for the safe option on Sky1 HD.  Everything needs to be bold and ambitious.  Glenn Martin is certainly something different and will sit perfectly in our Thursday night schedule cementing Sky1 HD as the home of great comedy.”
