Sony Titles Headed to Italy’s Fantasy Channel

LONDON: A range of science-fiction, fantasy and horror programming from Sony Pictures Television has been acquired by Chello Zone’s Italian channel Fantasy.

The programming will air throughout 2010 and into 2011 on Fantasy, which is newly rebranded and has more than 4 million subscribers. The slate includes the mini-series Medusa’s Child and TV movies such as The Canterville Ghost and John Carpenter Presents Vampires: Los Muertos. A range of feature films will also air over the next year. Movies include The Blob, The Deep, Krull, The Seventh Sign and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. The fantasy drama Early Edition will begin airing on the channel in April.

Adam Robinson, Chello Zone’s director of programming, said, “Announcing this exciting deal for Fantasy is a great way to kick off 2010. Following the successful rebrand of Fantasy, we’re delighted to add this incredible raft of high-quality cross-genre programming to complement our already extensive slate. We look forward to augmenting the channel lineup further over the coming months and continuing our strong relationship with Sony Pictures Television.”
