Globo Scores Russian Pickup for Novela

SÃO PAULO: Ahead of its official launch at NATPE, India: A Love Story has been sold by Globo TV International into Russia, where it will air on Domashny, which reaches more than 60 million viewers.

India: A Love Story, the winner of the 2009 International Emmy Award for Best Telenovela, tells the story of the differences between the cultural customs and traditions of Brazil and India. The series has also been picked up in Romania.

Raphael Correa Netto, the head of international sales at TV Globo, commented: “The Russian audience has given us prestige for a long time now. Since the 1990s our love stories are present on their TVs. We can highlight great successes such as The King of Cattle and Terra Nostra, which were seen by thousands of people around the country. We are happy with the premiere of India: A Love Story on Domashny. We know that the local audience will be enchanted by the telenovela by Gloria Perez.”
