Discovery Names New VP of Strategy, M&A

LONDON: Mark Smith has joined Discovery Networks International as VP of strategy and mergers and acquisitions, leading business development opportunities, based in London.  

Smith will report to Catherine Mullen, the senior VP of strategy and digital media for Discovery Networks International. Smith comes to Discovery from Reed  Elsevier, a publishing and information business, where he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions. Before spending five years with Reed  Elsevier, Smith spent eight years working with both Lehman Brothers and UBS. 

Mullen said: “Mark has extremely strong business development skills from both a strategic and investment banking perspective. Our International business is one of the fastest growing amongst the media sector and Mark’s experience and business acumen will be an important addition as we grow the business further.”
