DECODE Strikes How to Be Indie Sales

TORONTO: The live-action series How to Be Indie has been sold by DECODE Enterprises to a number of international broadcasters, among them ABC in Australia and M-Net in Africa. 

Also signing on for the tween show, produced by The Heroic Film Company, are Turner Broadcasting’s Boomerang in Latin America, Italy’s DeAgostini and Canal+ Cyfrowy of Poland. The series, about a 13-year-old who must balance her family’s South Asian traditions with her Western lifestyle, is currently airing on YTV in Canada. 

Josh Scherba, the senior VP of istribution at DECODE Enterprises, said: “How to Be Indie is just the type of live action series that international broadcasters are looking for. The scripts are fresh and funny and have a unique take on the life of a teenage girl, her family and friends.”
