Fox Stations Renews Wendy Williams Through 2012

NEW YORK: Fox Television Stations has renewed Debmar-Mercury International‘s The Wendy Williams Show through the 2011-2012 season.

The renewals includes Fox owned-and-operated stations in markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Dallas. The show launched in the U.S. last July, following a six-week, four-market preview on Fox stations the previous summer.

"There was no question that we wanted to renew The Wendy Williams Show given what we’ve seen thus far in both content and ratings," said Frank Cicha, the senior VP of programming for Fox Television Stations. "We anticipate even further growth as the show continues to emerge as a key building block, and Wendy as a key personality, of our daytime landscape."

Debmar-Mercury co-president Mort Marcus said he was "extremely gratified" by Fox’s decision to renew the talk show. "Her substantial growth in the key ratings demos, which stations care about the most, has quickly put her program within striking distance of many of today’s most established and successful talk shows."
