Global Agency Hires New Head of Acquisitions

LONDON: Andrew Sime, a former 2waytraffic acquisitions manager, has joined Global Agency as its head of acquisitions.

In regards to Sime’s hiring, Izzet Pinto, the CEO of Global Agency, said: "We have been looking for the right person for some time. Andrew’s energy and outgoing personality is a great match for our company. He has a strong background in the format business that will help propel our company to the next level. We are looking forward to working with such a talent."

When asked about his catalogue of formats, Pinto said, "We are very selective when it comes to representing formats. Andrew will be searching for extraordinary formats that will create a lot of buzz. If we decide to represent a project, we put enormous effort into it and ensure that it becomes a worldwide hit."

The format distributor, behind Perfect Bride and The Big Challenge, announced expansion plans earlier this year, and has taken its first step by bringing the format Choosing My Religion into its catalogue.

"We have plans to grow by 200 percent in 2010," Pinto said, noting that the company will not only focus on formats, but also on series and telenovelas.
