MEG Sets Up Format Division

LONDON: Media Entertainment Group (MEG) has expanded its business with the creation of a new format sales division, MEG Formats, to be led by Sarah Coursey.

The new unit is based in London and has a further base in Rio de Janeiro. Coursey will be responsible for building the company’s format catalogue and helping to coordinate growth in a variety of format genres. Over the next six months, Coursey will work to acquire a broad slate of format content from small- to medium-sized production companies. Coursey started in the industry at Distraction Formats as head of sales. She then went on to serve as head of formats and acquisitions at Zodiak Entertainment.

MEG’s CEO, Peter Greén, commented: "We feel the formats business is ready for a new player that is small, flexible and light on its feet, in a climate of top-heavy distributors that hold huge catalogues. Using our in depth experience working with the world’s leading broadcasters and producers spanning three decades, we noticed the need for a hand-picked selection of formats which are well-marketed and given individual attention. MEG Formats will offer producers the attention their formats require in order to thrive in the international market. And with Sarah’s pedigree, we expect to pick up great formats as well as put together a dedicated and experienced sales team to carry out distribution activities across the globe."
