DQE Signs Deal with Metropolis TV for Iron Man

HYDERABAD: DQ Entertainment (DQE) has signed a free-TV distribution agreement with Metropolis Television for the animated series Iron Man to air across 13 Asian territories.

The agreement kicks off in August 2010 and runs for three years, covering territories such as India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and South Korea. The pay-TV rights for Iron Man were previously picked up by Cartoon Network for Asia. The first season of Iron Man, which centers on the legendary Marvel Comics superhero, debuted in the U.S. on Nicktoons in April. The series has also started airing in Canada on TELETOON.

Tapaas Chakravarti, the chairman and CEO of DQE Group, said, “We are happy to bring the Marvel superhero to a larger audience base in ASEAN countries through the free-TV platform, even as the pay-TV rights continue to be held by Turner Entertainment network for entire Southeast Asia. Iron Man has entertained audiences in several regions and kids will surely love this cool crime-fighting superhero. We are happy to partner with Metropolis Television and hope to continue our association on several other properties in the future.”

Linda Collins, the VP of Metropolis Television, commented: “It’s a great title with pedigree. We and our representatives in Asia—Vision Plus Entertainment—are incredibly proud to be working with our partners DQ Entertainment in bringing it to Southeast Asia. Iron Man has entertained audiences for generations and we believe that it will continue to do so in the years to come. Children all over Southeast Asia will enjoy the adventures of Iron Man.”
