Power Slates Big-Budget Dramas

LONDON: Headlining Power’s slate of big-budget dramas is the environmental disaster title Ice.

Currently filming in New Zealand, Ice, a co-production from Power and Screentime, follows the destructive effects of global warming, as the human race finds itself on the brink of a new ice age.

Power is also highlighting a modern adaptation of writer Alistair MacLean’s Puppet on a Chain. The four-hour mini-series follows a man who is caught up in the notorious narcotics scene in Amsterdam. Also from MacLean, The Dark Crusader is an energetic thriller that follows a MI6 agent on a mission of national and global security to locate six of the world’s leading biological scientists who have gone missing.

From its long-standing output deal with RHI Entertainment comes The Storm, a two-part disaster mini-series, and Acceptance, a two-hour movie about the trials and tribulations of adolescent life.

A further highlight is The Day of the Triffids, an action thriller about highly dangerous, carnivorous plants who turn against humans.

Power’s president of worldwide sales, Randall Broman, commented, “We have some fantastic productions in the pipeline and are extremely excited to be launching our new slate at MIPCOM. With huge titles such as Ice and Puppet on a Chain we continue to meet the demand for high-end drama with big budgets and fantastic special effects.”
