{"id":8907,"date":"2018-08-07T10:06:35","date_gmt":"2018-08-07T14:06:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/showtime-sets-final-season-homeland\/"},"modified":"2018-08-07T11:59:32","modified_gmt":"2018-08-07T15:59:32","slug":"showtime-sets-final-season-of-homeland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/showtime-sets-final-season-of-homeland\/","title":{"rendered":"Showtime Sets Final Season of Homeland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Showtime has confirmed that the eighth season of the hit drama <em>Homeland<\/em>, debuting in June 2019, will be the last for the series.<\/p>\n<p>Production on the final 12 episodes will begin in early 2019 in a yet-to-be-determined location. \u201c<em>Homeland<\/em> has been a game-changing series for Showtime, as provocative about the world we live in as it is prescient,\u201d said David Nevins, president and CEO of Showtime Networks. \u201cThis project, arriving right at the beginning of my Showtime tenure thanks to Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, and brought to life by a remarkable cast led by Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin, is a richly written character study that is now ready for its natural conclusion. Viewers will be rewarded by the way Alex brings <em>Homeland<\/em> home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The network also announced that the ninth season of its hit comedy series <em>Shameless<\/em> will expand to a 14-episode order. It will air in two parts, this fall and in winter 2019. The first seven episodes will begin airing on September 9 at 9 p.m., with a midseason finale on October 21 at 9 p.m.\u00a0The second half of season nine will premiere on January 20, 2019, at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Showtime will premiere a new documentary series from Oscar- and Emmy Award-winning director Alex Gibney tentatively titled <em>Enemies: The President, Justice &amp; the FBI<\/em>. The series will provide an in-depth look into the long history of conflict between American presidents and the FBI. The four-part doc series will premiere its first installment on November 18 at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Also in the way of unscripted, there&#8217;s a new three-part documentary series, <em>Shut Up and Dribble<\/em>, coming to the network in October.
