{"id":8278,"date":"2017-10-19T01:00:03","date_gmt":"2017-10-19T05:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2017-10-19T05:46:39","modified_gmt":"2017-10-19T09:46:39","slug":"freeform-extends-original-programming-slate-launches-comedy-block","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/freeform-extends-original-programming-slate-launches-comedy-block\/","title":{"rendered":"Freeform Extends Original Programming Slate, Launches Comedy Block"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Freeform is adding a fourth night of original programming from January 2018 with the launch of a comedy block on Wednesdays that includes the new shows <em>grown-ish<\/em> and <em>Alone Together<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0executive producer Kenya Barris and\u00a0starring <em>black-ish<\/em> actress Yara Shahidi reprising her role as Zoey, <em>grown-ish<\/em>\u00a0will make its one-hour premiere on January 3 at 8 p.m. The series follows Shahidi\u2019s <em>black-ish<\/em> character as she goes off to college. On January 10 at 8:30 p.m., Freeform will debut <em>Alone Together<\/em>, a buddy comedy from executive producers\u00a0Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone, and starring\u00a0comedians Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the comedy night, Freeform will roll out further programming blocks featuring original series. Monday nights will focus on unscripted originals, kicking off with the series premiere of <em>Disney\u2019s Fairy Tale Weddings<\/em> in the spring. Tuesday nights will feature original dramas, beginning with <em>The Fosters<\/em> and leading into <em>Shadowhunters<\/em> on April 3. <em>The Bold Type<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Famous in Love<\/em>\u00a0will\u00a0occupy the drama block for the remainder of the year.
