Brad Weston’s Makeready, which recently launched with backing from Entertainment One (eOne), has named Scott Nemes to head up its TV business.<\/p>\n

Nemes will oversee all aspects of Makeready\u2019s television development, financing and acquisitions for premium cable, OTT and emerging platforms. He comes to the company from Cinemax, where he served as senior VP, helping launch the rebrand of HBO\u2019s sister network and overseeing series such as Banshee<\/em>, The Knick<\/em>, Outcast<\/em> and Quarry<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Makeready already has several shows in development, including an untitled David James Kelly project with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson\u2019s Appian Way that will star and be executive produced by Jamie Dornan (The Fall<\/em>) and written by David James Kelly, who will also executive produce. The company is currently negotiating with a network on a series based on the New York Times<\/em> best-selling novel They Can\u2019t Kill Us All<\/em>, by Wesley Lowery, which will be adapted and executive produced by LaToya Morgan. eOne is handling the international distribution of Makeready’s television content.<\/p>\n

Weston, Makeready’s CEO, to whom Nemes will report, commented: \u201cScott is a wildly important hire for us as making high-quality television is a priority and a major driving force of our business plan. Our goal is to work with great talent and match what we have done historically and what we plan to do on the feature side\u2014make bold choices, support talent and hope the ideas cut through and find an audience.
