{"id":7978,"date":"2017-05-15T11:54:07","date_gmt":"2017-05-15T15:54:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/fox-shifts-gotham-to-thursdays-slates-the-gifted-for-mondays\/"},"modified":"2017-05-15T12:08:50","modified_gmt":"2017-05-15T16:08:50","slug":"fox-shifts-gotham-to-thursdays-slates-the-gifted-for-mondays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/fox-shifts-gotham-to-thursdays-slates-the-gifted-for-mondays\/","title":{"rendered":"FOX Shifts Gotham to Thursdays, Slates The Gifted for Mondays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOX&#8217;s prime-time schedule for the 2017-18 season sees a number of current shows moving time slots and nights, while the new Marvel drama <em>The Gifted<\/em> lands on Mondays at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Produced in association with Marvel Television,\u00a0the family adventure series <em>The Gifted<\/em> is paired with returning drama <em>Lucifer<\/em> on Monday nights.<\/p>\n<p><em>Lethal Weapon<\/em> is on the move to Tuesdays at 8 p.m., leading into the returning comedies <em>The Mick<\/em> and <em>Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Empire<\/em> moves into a new slot on Wednesdays at 8 p.m., with <em>Star<\/em> taking over at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><em>Gotham<\/em> also gets a new night, set for Thursdays at 8 p.m. The returning series will provide a lead-in for <em>The Orville<\/em>, which comes from executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (<em>Family Guy<\/em>) and is directed by Jon Favreau (<em>The Jungle Book<\/em>, <em>Iron Man<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Fridays see the returning pairing of <em>Hell&#8217;s Kitchen<\/em> and <em>The Exorcist<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Saturdays continue to be dedicated to sports. Sundays will see newcomer <em>Ghosted<\/em>, starring Craig Robinson (<em>The Office<\/em>, <em>This Is the End<\/em>) and Adam Scott (<em>Parks and Recreation<\/em>, <em>Big Little Lies)<\/em>, airing alongside returning staples <em>The Simpsons<\/em>, <em>Family Guy<\/em> and <em>The Last Man on Earth<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>For midseason, FOX has announced the new procedural drama <em>9-1-1<\/em>, which comes from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk (<em>American Horror Story<\/em>, <em>Glee<\/em>) and stars Angela Bassett (<em>American Horror Story<\/em>, <em>What\u2019s Love Got to Do with It<\/em>). Also for midseason, <em>The Resident<\/em> is a medical drama featuring, among others, Emily VanCamp (<em>Revenge<\/em>) and Matt Czuchry (<em>The Good Wife<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>In the way of comedy, <em>LA to Vegas<\/em> is planned for a midseason launch. The show comes from executive producers Will Ferrell (<em>Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy<\/em>, <em>Elf<\/em>), Adam McKay (<em>The Big Short<\/em>), Lon Zimmet (<em>Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt<\/em>) and Steve Levitan (<em>Modern Family<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The network is holding the next chapter of <em>The X-Files<\/em> for 2018. Additionally, FOX and Warner Horizon Unscripted Television will partner with producer\u00a0Marc Platt\u00a0(<em>Grease: Live<\/em>, <em>La La Land<\/em>, <em>Wicked<\/em>) on the live musical event <em>A Christmas Story<\/em>, inspired by\u00a0the holiday classic feature of the same name and the Tony Award-nominated Broadway production <em>A Christmas Story: The Musical<\/em>. Executive producer Marc Platt also will team with FOX on <em>Rent<\/em>, a live musical production of the Tony Award-, Grammy Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis past season, we launched five of the top 15 new series\u2014more than any other network\u2014and next season, we\u2019re using our strongest series to launch new shows and grow returning series,\u201d said Dana Walden and Gary Newman, chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group. \u201cWe\u2019re strategically pairing shows that have greater compatibility to increase audience flow and create higher duplication on each night.
