\n\tLOS ANGELES: The nominations for the 31st Annual Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards have been announced, with the dramas Mad Men<\/em>, <\/em>Game of Thrones<\/em> and The Americans <\/em>facing off with newcomers Empire<\/em> and Transparent <\/em>for program of the year.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe nominations are spread across five broadcast networks—ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW—as well as PBS, nine cable networks and the internet streaming services Netflix and Amazon. HBO leads the way with seven nominations; ABC, CBS, AMC and FX each have five; FOX, PBS, The CW and Amazon each have four; NBC and Comedy Central each have three; ABC Family has two; and Netflix, Starz, Logo, Nickelodeon and SundanceTV each have one.<\/p>\n

\n\tVeep<\/em>'s Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who won for individual achievement in comedy in 2014, is up in the category again this year, competing with Gina Rodriguez<\/a> of Jane the Virgin<\/em>, Amy Schumer of Inside Amy Schumer<\/em>, Jeffrey Tambor of Transparent<\/em> and Constance Wu of Fresh Off the Boat<\/em>. The nominees for individual achievement in drama are Viola Davis<\/a> of How to Get Away with Murder<\/em>, Jon Hamm<\/a> of Mad Men<\/em>, Taraji P. Henson of Empire<\/em>, Matthew Rhys<\/a> of The Americans<\/em> and Bob Odenkirk of Better Call Saul<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tOutstanding achievement in drama is a competition between The Americans<\/em>, Empire<\/em>, Game of Thrones<\/em>, Justified <\/em>and Mad Men<\/em>. The comedy contenders are The Big Bang Theory<\/em>, Inside Amy Schumer<\/em>, Jane the Virgin<\/em>, Transparent <\/em>and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the category of movies, miniseries and specials, the nominees for outstanding achievement are Bessie<\/em>, The Honorable Woman<\/em>, The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst<\/em>, Olive Kitteridge <\/em>and Wolf Hall<\/em>. Up for best new program are Better Call Saul<\/em>, Empire<\/em>, The Flash<\/em>, Jane the Virgin <\/em>and Transparent<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe TCA Award nominees for reality programming are The Amazing Race<\/em>, The Chair<\/em>, Dancing with the Stars<\/em>, Shark Tank <\/em>and RuPaul's Drag Race<\/em>, which won in the category in 2014. 2014's winners in the youth programming arena, The Fosters<\/em>, is again nominated, alongside Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood<\/em>, The Legend of Korra<\/em>, Sesame Street <\/em>and Switched at Birth<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the category of outstanding achievement in news and information, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver <\/em>and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart <\/em>are competing with CBS Sunday Morning<\/em>, Frontline <\/em>and 60 Minutes<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tUp for this year's heritage award are Friends<\/em>, Late Show\/Late Night with David Letterman<\/em>, The Shield<\/em>, Star Trek <\/em>and Twin Peaks<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe winners will be announced August 8.<\/p>\n
