El Jefe has already optioned two major novels. The first is <em>American Rust<\/em>, Meyer&rsquo;s acclaimed debut novel about a troubled police chief with a history of violence, struggling with his sense of honor in a small Pennsylvanian community being torn apart by a shocking murder. The second project is <em>Vanished<\/em>, Wil S.
