\n\tNEW YORK: Aereo has "paused" its service as it figures out its next steps in the wake of last week's Supreme Court ruling.<\/p>\n
\n\tLast week, the Supreme Court reversed a lower court decision, ruling that Aereo was infringing on broadcasters' copyrights via its cloud-based DVR that delivered over-the-air signals to broadband-connected devices for a monthly fee.<\/p>\n
\t"We have decided to pause our operations temporarily as we consult with the court and map out our next steps," Aereo said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\n\t"The spectrum that the broadcasters use to transmit over-the-air programming belongs to the American public and we believe you should have a right to access that live programming whether your antenna sits on the roof of your home, on top of your television or in the cloud," the statement continued.<\/p>\n
\n\tIn a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that Aereo's service was akin to a pay-TV platform, and therefore it should pay retransmission fees to the networks.
