{"id":5568,"date":"2014-03-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-03-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/2014\/03\/18\/abc-family-orders-three-drama-pilots-brings-back-two-comedies\/"},"modified":"2014-03-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-03-18T00:00:00","slug":"abc-family-orders-three-drama-pilots-brings-back-two-comedies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/abc-family-orders-three-drama-pilots-brings-back-two-comedies\/","title":{"rendered":"ABC Family Orders Three Drama Pilots, Brings Back Two Comedies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tBURBANK: ABC Family is continuing to build up its slate of original programming, with three drama pilots getting the go-ahead and new seasons slated for two of its hit comedies.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe network is moving forward with <em>Alice in Arabia<\/em>, a drama about a rebellious American teenage girl who is unknowingly kidnapped by her extended family, who are Saudi Arabian. <em>Recovery Road <\/em>is based on the popular young adult novel by Blake Nelson, about a teenage girl dealing with addiction. <em>Unstrung<\/em> explores the professional world of tour tennis as a brother and sister compete to move up the ranks.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tABC Family has also greenlit new seasons of the comedies <em>Melissa &amp; Joey <\/em>and <em>Baby Daddy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&ldquo;These three powerful new dramas are a great fit with ABC Family&rsquo;s brand of original programming known for diverse stories that challenge as well as entertain our viewers,&rdquo; commented Tom Ascheim, the president of ABC Family. &ldquo;We&rsquo;re also delighted to produce more episodes of <em>Melissa &amp; Joey<\/em> and <em>Baby Daddy<\/em>, two series that together have helped ABC Family establish a strong comedy block that continues to make our audience laugh out loud.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>\n\tKate Juergens, the chief creative officer and executive VP of original content at ABC Family, said, &ldquo;Innovative and authentic is the promise we make to our audience.
