\n\tLOS ANGELES: There were several surprises among the nominees for the 2014 Golden Globes, with past winners Homeland <\/em>and Mad Men <\/em>noticeably absent from the roster, and newcomers like Netflix scoring several nods.<\/p>\n

\n\tNetflix's House of Cards <\/em>is nominated for best TV series drama, alongside Breaking Bad<\/em>, Downton Abbey<\/em>, The Good Wife <\/em>and freshman series Masters of Sex<\/em>. The nominations for best actor in a TV drama went to Bryan Cranston<\/a> for Breaking Bad<\/em>, Liev Schreiber for Ray Donovan<\/em>, Michael Sheen for Masters of Sex<\/em>, Kevin Spacey for House of Cards <\/em>and James Spader<\/a> for The Blacklist<\/em>. In the category for best actress in a drama, there are two Netflix shows nominated: Orange Is the New Black <\/em>(Taylor Shilling) and House of Cards <\/em>(Robin Wright). The other female nominees are Julianna Margulies for The Good Wife<\/em>, Tatiana Maslany for Orphan Black <\/em>and Kerry Washington for Scandal<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tFirst-timer Brooklyn Nine-Nine <\/em>is nominated for best TV series comedy or musical, facing off with The Big Bang Theory<\/em>, Girls<\/em>, Modern Family <\/em>and Parks and Recreation<\/em>. The actors nominated for comedy include Michael J. Fox, for his return to television in The Michael J. Fox Show<\/em>. Fox is up against Jason Bateman of Arrested Development<\/em>, Don Cheadle of House of Lies<\/em>, Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory <\/em>and Andy Samberg of Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em>. The female comedic nominees are Zooey Deschanel for New Girl<\/em>, Lena Dunham for Girls<\/em>, Edie Falco for Nurse Jackie<\/em>, Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Veep <\/em>and Amy Poehler for Parks and Recreation<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tStarz landed two nominations in the category for best mini-series or TV movie, for Dancing on the Edge <\/em>and White Queen<\/em>. Also nominated are American Horror Story: Coven<\/em>, Behind the Candelabra <\/em>and Top of the Lake<\/em>. Actor nods in the category went to Matt Damon and Michael Douglas for Behind the Candelabra<\/em>, Chiwetel Ejiofor for Dancing on the Edge<\/em>, Idris Elba for Luther <\/em>and Al Pacino for Phil Spector<\/em>. The best actress nominees in the category are Helena Bonham Carter for Burton and Taylor<\/em>, Rebecca Ferguson for White Queen<\/em>, Jessica Lange for American Horror Story: Coven<\/em>, Helen Mirren for Phil Spector <\/em>and Elisabeth Moss for Top of the Lake<\/em>.<\/p>\n
