BEVERLY HILLS: The Critics’ Choice Television Awards last night recognized The Big Bang Theory <\/em>as the best comedy series, while Breaking Bad <\/em>notched up a number of wins on the drama side. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While The Big Bang Theory <\/em>won for best comedy series, performance nods went to Louie<\/em>‘s Louis C.K. and Veep<\/em>‘s Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Supporting comedy nods were awarded to Simon Helberg for The Big Bang Theory <\/em>and The Big Big<\/em> Theory<\/em>‘s Kaley Cuoco and The Middle<\/em>‘s Eden Sher, in a tie. Best guest performer in a comedy was Patton Oswalt for his turn on Parks and Recreation<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For the best drama series, it was a tie between Breaking Bad <\/em>and Game of Thrones<\/em>, though Breaking Bad<\/em>‘s Bryan Cranston<\/a> took the win for best actor in a drama. Tatiana Maslany of Orphan Black <\/em>won in the category for best actress. The winners for supporting actor and actress in a drama were Southland<\/em>‘s Michael Cudlitz and Parenthood<\/em>‘s Monica Potter, respectively. Jane Fonda was recognized as best guest performer in a drama for The Newsroom<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the movie or mini-series category, Behind the Candelabra <\/em>was the night’s big winner, with star Michael Douglas also being honored. Elisabeth Moss won for best actress in the category for Top of the Lake<\/em>. American Horror Story: Asylum <\/em>swept the supporting performance categories, with wins for Zachary Quinto and Sarah Paulson. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There was a tie for best reality series, between Push Girls <\/em>and Duck Dynasty<\/em>. The Voice <\/em>was named best reality competition series. Dancing with the Stars<\/em>‘ Tom Bergeron was chosen as the best reality host. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The competition also recognized several programs as the most exciting new series. These were The Bridge<\/em>, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.<\/em>, Masters of Sex<\/em>, The Michael J.
