SEATTLE: Amazon.com has signed a licensing deal with NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution that brings to its catalogue prior seasons of shows such as Grimm<\/em>, Suits<\/em>, Covert Affairs<\/em>, Hannibal <\/em>and Defiance <\/em>for instant streaming. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Prime Instant Video currently offers around 40,000 movies and TV episodes. Now, through the new agreement, Prime Instant Video customers can watch previous seasons for NBC’s Grimm<\/em> and USA Network’s Suits <\/em>and Cover Affa<\/em>irs<\/em>, available as of today. Hannibal<\/em> joins later this year and Defiance <\/em>will become available in early 2014. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Also part of the pact are NBC’s Smash <\/em>and Syfy’s Alphas<\/em>, Eureka <\/em>and Warehouse 13<\/em>. The deal also includes children’s programs such as Curious George <\/em>and Land Before Time<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“We listen carefully to our customers to find out which TV shows and movies they find the most entertaining,” said Brad Beale, the director of digital video content acquisition for Amazon. “Our expanded agreement with NBCUniversal gives Prime members access to even more exclusive content that they can stream instantly, at no additional cost. Compelling shows like Covert Affairs<\/em>, Defiance<\/em>, Grimm<\/em>, Hannibal<\/em> and Suits<\/em> are big wins for our customers and we look forward to adding more titles soon.” <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“We’re excited to expand our relationship with Amazon by adding great NBCUniversal content to Prime Instant Video,” added Frances Manfredi, the president of NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution. “With Amazon, we’re giving our established viewers a chance to catch-up on what they missed while simultaneously reaching and engaging new audiences who may not have seen these great series on their premiering networks.”
