LOS ANGELES: A 13-episode order has been given to the comedy Legit<\/em>, starring Australian comedian Jim Jefferies, to join FX’s original series roster. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jefferies plays a comedian named Jim, who has a series of misguided attempts to become legitimate in life. He is supported by his best friend Steve, played by Dan Bakkedahl, and Steve’s brother Billy, played by D.J. Qualls. Jefferies co-created the project with Peter O’Fallon. O’Fallon (The Riches<\/em>), Jefferies and Rick Cleveland (Nurse Jackie<\/em>, Mad Men<\/em>) serve as executive producers. For New Wave Entertainment, Lisa Blum is executive producer. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The series, produced by FX Productions, will debut in January 2013. The show joins other FX’s originals, including It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia<\/em>, The League<\/em>, Archer<\/em>, Louie<\/em> and Wilfred<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“We really love the pilot that Peter and Jim shot,” said Nick Grad, the executive VP of original programming for FX. “This is going to be a breakout vehicle for Jim. He has such a unique voice which is the common trait of any great comedian. It just happens to be spoken with an Australian accent.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

"I couldn’t be happier than getting to do this show,” commented Jefferies. “FX has set the bar so high with shows like Louie<\/em> and Sunny<\/em>, but I believe Peter and I have created something special. The cast is amazing and FX has given us all the freedom we need. I can’t wait for people to see it."<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

O’Fallon added, "I have worked on many shows in many roles, but I have never had more fun on a set or anywhere for that matter than I did working on this show. Jim is one the funniest, smartest men I have ever met. FX, as always, was incredibly helpful and made it the best experience I could have imagined.”
