LOS ANGELES\/TORONTO: The mockumentary mini-series The Yard<\/em> from Entertainment One (eOne) is to debut in the U.S. on Hulu and Hulu Plus, where a full slate of new originals and exclusive shows have been lined up for summer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The six-part, half-hour series records students’ behavior during recess. The show, which originally aired on HBO Canada, premieres June 7, with a new episode airing every Thursday. The series will be available in its entirety as of July 12. <\/span><\/span>Nest up is Spoilers<\/em>, from Kevin Smith. “I have always wanted to do a show that provides an open forum for real fans to discuss real movies in real time and that’s what Spoilers<\/em> is about. As a filmmaker and lover of movies, I understand that ultimately it’s the fans who make the film. So in this show, we do not review movies, we revere them,” said Smith. “Hulu really lends itself well to a show like this because they have an audience that is passionate and active when it comes to shows they love. And frankly, those are the people I want to hang with.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The show debuts June 4. Up to Speed<\/em> is a travel show from filmmaker Richard Linklater. Each week the series follows tour guide Timothy "Speed" Levitch as he visits monumentally ignored monuments in American cities. <\/span><\/span>Linklater said, “Speed Levitch is one of the most effusive, articulate people I know, and one of America’s funniest freethinkers. Hulu has a highly engaged and intellectually curious audience, and I’m excited to give them a glimpse of Speed’s unique and idiosyncratic worldview as we take the concept of a travel show and turn it on its head.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We Get Next<\/span><\/span><\/em> is a new Hulu original billed as a "bro-mantic comedy." The half-hour show is about a pick-up basketball team of four guys who should not be friends in the first place. The series premieres in August on Hulu and Hulu Plus. <\/span><\/span>Co-creator Kenya Barris commented, “This is a show built around what guys do when it’s just the guys. It’s as raw and honest as it is ridiculous and raunchy. That’s the comedy of real life. I’m excited to bring this show to Hulu.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside The Yard <\/em>on the roster of Hulu exclusives are Rev<\/em>, a contemporary sitcom about the daily frustrations and moral conflicts of an inner-city vicar, and Derren Brown: Inside Your Mind<\/em>, in which the eponymous performer uses psychology, magic, showmanship and suggestion to achieve the seemingly impossible. A second season is on the way for The Booth at the End<\/em>, a half-hour psychological thriller. The slate also includes Pramface<\/em>, about two unexpected parents-to-be, and Little<\/em> Mosque<\/em>, a light-hearted and comedic fish-out-of-water tale about a small Muslim community.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Promise<\/em>, a political thriller and love story, comes to the slate from Mentorn International. The show, from writer and director Peter Kosminsky, is due to premiere August 11. <\/span><\/span>David Leach, <\/span><\/span>Mentorn International’s managing director, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing The Promise<\/em> to the U.S. with Hulu. It’s a great drama and an important piece of work which we believe American audiences will find as entertaining and challenging as viewers have around the world.”
