NEW YORK: The CW has picked up five new dramas for the 2012-13 season, along with shuffling its returning series to new slots. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Another season of 90210<\/em> is on the way, occupying the Monday 8 p.m. slot, with Gossip Girl<\/em> wrapping up its six-season run in the 9 p.m. hour. Starting in January, the new series The Carrie Diaries<\/em>, which is supposed to be the early years of Sex and the City<\/em>‘s Carrie Bradshaw, will take over at 9 p.m.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The CW has ordered another round of Hart of Dixie<\/em>, starring Rachel Bilson, for the Tuesday 8 p.m. slot. The new medical drama Emily Owens, M.D.<\/em>, starring Mamie Gummer as a surgical intern, follows at 9 p.m. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesdays, The CW has paired the freshman series Arrow<\/em>, starring Stephen Amell as the popular DC Comics character, with the returning hit Supernatural<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Vampire Diaries <\/span><\/span><\/em>holds on to its Thursday slot, serving as a lead in for the new series Beauty and the Beast<\/em>, starring Kristin Kruek as a homicide detective and Jay Ryan as a doctor with a dark side. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

America’s Next Top Model<\/span><\/span><\/em> is moving to Friday nights, followed by the return of Nikita<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The new drama Cult<\/em>, which stars Matt Davis as a journalist who is looking for his missing brother, will premiere midseason. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

“One of our biggest priorities this year at The CW was adding more original programming, and we’ve added 50 original hours to our schedule in 2012,” said Mark Pedowitz, the president of The CW. “With dynamic new dramas for the fall and midseason, and our first-ever summer schedule leading into our October fall launch, this is poised to be a transformative season for The CW.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“The dramas we have for next season are outstanding, with relatable characters and breakout stars.
