Screenings: Fox\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Marion Edwards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">PREMIUM: Marion Edwards, the president of Twentieth Century Fox International Television, tells Elizabeth Guider that while there haven&rsquo;t been &ldquo;a lot of wows at the Screenings of late,&rdquo; there has still been &ldquo;an unbelievably long run of global success for U.S. shows abroad.&rdquo;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">&ldquo;Big promotable hours with clear plots and relatively few characters&rdquo; is what Edwards says is working best abroad.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">&ldquo;If there&rsquo;s not been a breakout drama in the last couple of years&mdash;and we can&rsquo;t discount problems in Greece, Italy and elsewhere&mdash;we&rsquo;ve been able to take advantage of new developments and platforms around the world,&rdquo; she notes. &ldquo;Five years ago they weren&rsquo;t even there, but now Netflix, Amazon and all sorts of new players are changing the dynamics and opening up opportunities.&rdquo;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana\">As for working with these new platforms, Edwards acknowledges, &ldquo;There are some wonderful new players out there with whom we are now doing business in sync with our traditional broadcast partners.
