LOS ANGELES: The comedy Modern Family<\/em> garnered five nominations for the 18th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), while in drama, last year’s winner, Boardwalk Empire<\/em>, had another strong showing. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Modern Family<\/span><\/span><\/em> won last year’s SAG Award for ensemble comedy, and this year it faces off in the category with 30 Rock<\/em>, The Big Bang Theory<\/em>, Glee<\/em> and The Office<\/em>. Modern Family<\/em>‘s Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet are both nominated in the male comedy category, where they are up against Steve Carell for The Office<\/em>, Jon Cryer of Two and a Half Men <\/em>and Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock<\/em>, who won last year. On the female side, Modern Family<\/em>‘s Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara are nominated, alongside Edie Falco for Nurse Jackie<\/em>, Tina Fey for 30 Rock <\/em>and last year’s winner, Betty White for Hot in Cleveland.<\/em> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Boardwalk Empire<\/span><\/span><\/em> took the win last year for ensemble drama. The show is again nominated in the category, this time against Game of Thrones<\/em>, Breaking Bad<\/em>, Dexter<\/em> and The Good Wife<\/em>. Boardwalk<\/em>‘s Steve Buscemi will go for a second win in the male performance category. His contenders are Patrick Adams of Suits<\/em>, Kyle Chandler of Friday Night Lights<\/em>, Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad <\/em>and Michael C. Hall for Dexter<\/em>. Female leads up for the drama win are Kathy Bates for Harry’s Law<\/em>, Glenn Close for Damages<\/em>, Jessica Lange for American Horror Story<\/em>, Kyra Sedgwick for The Closer<\/em> and Julianna Margulies for The Good Wife<\/em>, who won last year’s award. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the way of TV movie\/mini-series, male nominees are Laurence Fishburne for Thurgood<\/em>, Paul Giamatti for Too Big to Fail<\/em>, Greg Kinnear for The Kennedys<\/em>, Guy Pearce for Mildred Pierce <\/em>and James Woods for Too Big to Fai<\/em>l<\/em>. The female nominees are Diane Lane for Cinema Verite<\/em>, Maggie Smith for Downton Abbey<\/em>, Emily Watson for Appropriate Adult<\/em>, Betty White for The Lost Valentine<\/em> and Kate Winslet for Mildred Pierce<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
