{"id":10411,"date":"2021-08-06T10:18:33","date_gmt":"2021-08-06T14:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/concord-launches-originals-division\/"},"modified":"2021-08-06T10:18:33","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T14:18:33","slug":"concord-launches-originals-division","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/concord-launches-originals-division\/","title":{"rendered":"Concord Launches Originals Division"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Concord has launched Concord Originals, a narrative content creation division to develop and produce a slate of scripted and unscripted films, TV shows and podcasts.<\/p>\n<p>The IP from Concord Originals will center on artists and IP that Concord owns or represents.<\/p>\n<p>Headquartered in Los Angeles, the division will be led by Sophia Dilley (<em>Billie<\/em>, <em>Tallulah<\/em>, <em>Colossal<\/em>) as senior VP, promoted from her previous role of VP at Concord. Dilley will oversee two newly appointed directors of development and production, Wesley Adams and Charles Hopkins, who were also promoted from their previous positions at Concord, as well as Development Coordinator Quile Gomez.<\/p>\n<p>Concord Originals will oversee several screen projects previously announced under parent company Concord, including two based on iconic musicals by Rodgers &amp; Hammerstein: a TV series reimagining of <em>Oklahoma!<\/em> and a remake of <em>The King and I<\/em>. The company has also partnered with Skydance and Jennifer Lopez\u2019s Nuyorican Productions to develop a slate of original projects based on Concord\u2019s catalog of musicals.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, three new titles have been added to the Concord Originals slate: <em>Flower Drum Song<\/em>, <em>The Bluesman<\/em> and <em>Peregrina<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur expanded mandate highlights the collaborative nature of our development process with other divisions under Concord,\u201d said Dilley. \u201cIt is a testament to one of the core principles of the company as a whole: realizing the potential of intellectual property across multiple industries and formats. A great idea may originate in the theatre but have a life in music, TV, print and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince joining Concord in 2018, Sophia has worked tirelessly to build a team that is diverse in its knowledge and expertise in order to produce film and television projects and premium podcasts,\u201d said Concord CEO Scott Pascucci. \u201cWith Wesley, Charles and Quile, Concord Originals is poised to continue growing, tackling a wide range of projects from a deep catalog of intellectual properties and great ideas.
