{"id":10070,"date":"2020-09-11T08:43:49","date_gmt":"2020-09-11T12:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/starz-greenlights-blindspotting-series\/"},"modified":"2020-09-11T09:28:55","modified_gmt":"2020-09-11T13:28:55","slug":"starz-greenlights-blindspotting-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvusa\/starz-greenlights-blindspotting-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Starz Greenlights Blindspotting Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starz has greenlit a series spin-off of the Lionsgate movie <em>Blindspotting<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Rafael Casal (<em>Bad Education<\/em>, <em>Are You Afraid of the Dark?<\/em>) and Daveed Diggs (<em>Snowpiercer<\/em>, <em>Black-ish<\/em>), who starred in the film in addition to writing and producing it, will write and executive produce the half-hour dramedy. Casal will serve as the series showrunner in addition to having a recurring role.<\/p>\n<p>The series centers on Ashley, played by Jasmine Cephas Jones, who is reprising her role from the film. Ashley was nipping at the heels of middle-class life in Oakland until Miles, her partner of 12 years and father of their son, is suddenly incarcerated, leaving her to navigate a chaotic and humorous existential crisis when she\u2019s forced to move in with Miles\u2019 mother and half-sister.<\/p>\n<p>Jess Wu Calder and Keith Calder of Snoot Entertainment (<em>One Night In Miami<\/em>, <em>Anomalisa<\/em>) will reunite with Casal and Diggs as executive producers.<\/p>\n<p>Casal and Diggs commented: \u201cLet us put you up on game, bruh. No description will encompass the complexity of a \u2018Blindspotting\u2019 series, ya dig? So just get juiced, cuz\u2019 it stars Jasmine Cephas Jones, it\u2019s set in Oakland and we\u2019re making it, so it\u2019s lightweight finna to be hella good and the soundtrack will indeed slap.
